Sterling Silver Reuge Music
Box issued by Royal Tunbridge Wells Miniatures LTD of Kent, England. Crafted as
part of his miniature sterling silver collection, Stephen J. Randall produced
this exquisite 1:12 scale solid sterling casket that holds the music mechanism. The mechanism is by renowned Swiss
watchmakers Reuge, whose hallmark is craftsmanship. It plays “Emperor Waltz” by
Johann Strauss and is a Limited Edition, No 0094 of the series. This item has
sat unopened in the original box and was only removed for photographs to list.
The lid opens to see the music box play and has the stop arm and winder on the
bottom of box. Here is a description from the Reuge catalog.: Smallest Music
Box in the world The solid sterling silver casket originally bequeathed by Sir
Walter Trevelyan circa 1634-84 is finely carved with a floral design and is
stamped with the British Hallmark.
Mr. Randall first exhibited
this piece at the Washington, DC miniature trade show in 1999. We purchased it for this estate at the time knowing
this discriminating miniature collector would want this unique piece. The emerald green is unusual and we have not
seen another one come on the market.
Very rare. It is highly prized for its artistry in the miniature world, by
music collectors, historical interest and of course for its precious metal
value.
Size: 1 1/4" wide
